Keynote with Funding Xchange

We were delighted to recently deliver our keynote ‘Performing Under Pressure’ to the brilliant team at Funding Xchange at their staff offsite.

“Could not have wished for a better way to kick-off our offsite and help us explore how we can tackle the challenges we face with humility, professionalism and dedication to the mission. Thank you Helen and Rosie for sharing with the FXE team what is expected of those taking on one of the most demanding jobs…you inspired all of us!”

PODCAST: Flight of the Navigator

In May 2023, I had the pleasure of joining the ladies at FizzPopBang to take part in my first podcast.

Here is what they wrote about our meeting and a link to the final cut…

FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR

Join us for a captivating May 2023 podcast episode as we sit down with Nicola Steevenson, a true Maverick. Nic’s remarkable journey takes us from her role as a navigator for Tornado jets in the Royal Air Force (RAF), serving on the frontlines of national security, to becoming the Chief Ground Instructor at a major airline.

But Nic’s story doesn’t end there. Today, she is an esteemed expert providing specialised training and advice on human performance and human factors to high-pressure industries like air ambulances and mining. In this episode, we dive into Nic’s unique path and discover the power of strengths and a growth mindset in achieving success, particularly in safety-focused, male dominated and disciplined environments.

In this POPcast we chat about:

– Nic’s incredible story about how she found herself in a role that’s truly one-of-a-kind.
– How strengths and a growth mindset become the secret sauce for achieving success, especially in such high safety and discipline-focused environments .
– Nic’s take on bravery and resilience, and how they shape industries where safety is key.
– How effective leadership becomes the driving force behind business success.

In the Pursuit of Excellence

Rosie had been wanting to further her professional knowledge in Human Factors and Ergonomics for a number of years. She waited for her youngest daughter to start school and then began an MSc in the subject with the University of Derby. It was a demanding course to complete, especially when the pandemic hit in 2020 and she found she had to homeschool her two young daughters suddenly alongside work and study! Despite these challenges, she graduated in 2023 with a Distinction and she now applies this knowledge when delivering training, as well as workshops and has incorporated some of the principles into Keynote speaking too.

Making meaningful change at Formula 1

We had a brilliant Q&A session with More than Equal in March 2024.

More than Equal are on an ambitious mission to find and develop Formula 1’s first female world champion.

There are wide ranging opinions in the sport on why women have not progressed to F1, but you need facts and data to make meaningful change.

We discussed some of the challenges that we faced in the fast jet world, as women, in terms of the design of some of our flying kit (mask fit, g-pants, flying suits etc) and ergonomics of the jet.

We also talked about our experience of how supportive the guys we worked with were, how some of our best champions were the men, and how we always just felt part of the team.
